Receive complimentary breakfast at Luxury Hotels
We have reviewed the best luxury hotels in Jakarta. Jakarta is the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia, a vast, sprawling metropolis home to over 10 million people. It’s an exciting city that is alive 24/7.
The downside of Jakarta is the horrendous traffic, making Bangkok look like a walk in the park! Make sure your luxury hotel is where you want to be, or you might spend much of your stay in taxis.
If you only plan to overnight in Jakarta on your way to Bali and your flight arrives during peak hours (4:00 – 6:00 pm), you might want to consider a hotel close to the airport, like the Sheraton. It isn’t ultra-luxury but could save you many hours in traffic jams.
Luxury hotels in Jakarta, Indonesia include the Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta, Keraton at The Plaza, Fairmont Jakarta, Hotel Mulia Senayan, The Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place, Raffles (which feels like serviced apartments), Sudirman Jakarta, AYANA Midplaza Jakarta, Alila Jakarta Hotel, Sari Pacific Jakarta, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, W Guangzhou, Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, Ritz-Carlton Jakarta Mega Kuningan, Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt Jakarta, Raffles Jakarta along with numerous Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott Bonvoy properties like St Regis.
I have compiled a list below containing the luxury hotels in Jakarta:
1. Four Seasons Jakarta
Four Seasons Jakarta is the newest and best hotel in Jakarta, but it lies along one of the busiest roads in Jakarta, and the traffic during peak hours is a nightmare. The location is not inspiring as it is not connected to any shopping mall, but there is a shuttle to the nearby Pacific Place Mall. On the plus side, the rooms are enormous and gorgeous, and the service is excellent. This hotel is almost unanimously voted to be the best hotel in Jakarta.
This Four Seasons hotel is the centerpiece of the spectacular Capital Place mixed-use development on Jalan Gatot Subroto. Designed by internationally acclaimed architect Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta celebrates the Indonesian architectural principle of transparency between indoor and outdoor space.
With clean lines of French décor by renowned interior designer Alexandra Champalimaud and an urban outdoor landscape by Bill Bensley, this all-suite hotel offers impressive panoramic views of the Jakarta skyline.
Targeting business travelers, the 20-storey hotel features 125 neo-classical-inspired suites (pictured above). Each is equipped with a walk-in closet, two LCD TVs, a coffee machine, a Bose sound system, and complimentary Wi-Fi. A 330m² Presidential Suite is also available on the 19th floor, boasting two bedrooms, a private study, a living room, and a separate dining room with a kitchen. As for facilities, the hotel will have five dining options, a spa, a swimming pool, a fitness center, and business spaces.
2. Keraton at The Plaza, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Jakarta
Keraton at the Plaza, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is a Starwood Luxury Collection property and part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio if you want to earn or spend Marriott Bonvoy points. It is the best Starwood and Marriott Bonvoy property in the city, and it has a super club lounge with some of the best club lounge food in Asia.
The Keraton is both a hotel and residence and has a beautiful lobby, fast Wi-Fi, friendly staff, and a great location attached to a mall with some nice areas to walk around near the hotel.
Rooms are modern and spacious with comfy sofas, an ottoman, a desk for working, and a large bathroom with double sinks, a tub, and a separate shower, Remede branded toiletries, oh and there is an illy coffee machine. Book an executive room. You will receive complimentary breakfast in the restaurant and access to the executive lounge on level five, with excellent a la carte food provided on request throughout the day. This is one of the best hotel club lounges in Kuala Lumpur. Other things to mention about the hotel are a superb indoor pool for guests (an outdoor one for residents that guests can’t use) and a gym.
Go, spend, or earn your Marriott Bonvoy points at this gem and enjoy! Book Keraton at The Plaza, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Jakarta, via our luxury travel concierge to get extra free benefits as well as your usual Marriott Bonvoy points and status benefits.
3. Fairmont Jakarta
The Fairmont is an excellent choice in Jakarta. It is probably Jakarta’s third-best luxury hotel choice, with many excellent food and drink options. It is connected to the stylish shopping mall, Plaza Senayan, and you can walk across the road to another (Senayan City). There’s even a golf course nearby.
Offering 380 well-appointed guest rooms & suites with an incredible view of the city skyline. The service is top-notch, and the hard product is superior and more modern than the current Mandarin Oriental and Ritz-Carlton hotel options below.
The Fairmont Gold Lounge and the top floor Gold rooms are particularly special and offer a VIP ‘hotel within a hotel’ experience with complimentary deluxe breakfasts and early evening canapés and drinks throughout the day.
4. Mandarin Oriental Jakarta
Located within a short walk from great shops and restaurants in one of the best locations in Jakarta, The Mandarin Oriental Jakarta is situated at the edge of the city’s upmarket Menteng residential neighborhood and close to Jakarta’s financial and diplomatic district. Spend evenings at the MO Bar, one of the city’s most fashionable nightspots. The fitness center is also great, and so is the spa, but the pool is not very good for doing laps.
The hotel itself is currently slightly dated, much like the two Ritz-Carlton hotels below, but the views across the hotel are fabulous. They extend from the iconic Welcome Monument over the city. Club Suites are particularly tempting and come with access to the exclusive Executive Lounge on the 21st floor, where there are fantastic city views and a bunch of complimentary benefits, including high tea, evening cocktails, and appetizers. Access to the lounge and its related benefits are also available to other guests to upgrade to for a supplement of $75 USD per night, and the upgrade is well worth it.
5. The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Palace
The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta Pacific Palace is located directly opposite the stock exchange and has a mall attached. It is located in the Central Business District, so you need to drive to tourist sites like National Monument and Jakarta Old Town.
The advantages of Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Palace Vs. Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan are that the rooms at the Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Palace tend to be more luxurious, larger, and less dated, the club lounge is included in all rates, and the hotel has a more boutique feel with just 60 rooms in the hotel part, the rest being made up of a residential complex. The club lounge offering includes five food “sittings” per day, basically continual meals with short gaps to change items.
There is also a dining area on a lower floor that the public can use and has a great buffet. Service throughout the hotel is excellent, and most of the time, guests at this hotel receive their early check-in and late check-out if they book via our concierge.
6. The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan
The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan, offers five-star amenities, a luxury spa, and an expansive meeting space in the CBD of Indonesia’s capital city. This location is not great as it is not really near any tourist sites. The traffic from the airport to Mega Kuningan can be awful. You can spend as much as 2-2.5 hours in traffic jams to get to hotels in this area.
Standard rooms are 680 ft², some of the largest in the city, and full-length windows look out at the dazzling skyline. Both restaurants are superb, and a well-equipped gym and a lovely spa are a welcome escape from the bustling city. The Club Level at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan is very good and overlooks the skyline of Jakarta business district from the 26th floor.
7. Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta
Comprising 662 well-appointed guest rooms and suites, Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta is a true oasis in the sprawling Indonesian capital. Stylish rooms with a view feature elegant décor with traditional Javanese accents. Enjoy a pampering massage, a dip in the impressive lagoon-style swimming pool, or keep trim with a workout in the comprehensive fitness center or tennis court.
With 662 rooms and suites, seven restaurants, a cake shop and bar, and a club lounge, this hotel is a 10-minute drive from the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rail Link (BNI City Station), so it is one of your best options for a layover or overnight-er in the city before heading back to the airport and onto a calmer destination like Bali.
8. Kempinski Jakarta
The Kempinski Jakarta is smack bang in the middle of the city and is one of the best luxury hotel choices in the city, which also has an executive club lounge.
Located in central Jakarta by the famous Bundaran HI, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta offers a 5-star hotel with sweeping views of the city’s skyline. The hotel boasts six dining options, a luxurious spa, and a rooftop swimming pool.
Floor-to-ceiling windows feature throughout the spacious guestrooms at Kempinski Indonesia. Each well-appointed room comes with a flat-screen TV and an en suite bathroom with a bathtub and rain shower. Kempinski The Spa has rooftop treatment rooms, and the hotel also features a fitness center. The hotel also provides BMW cars and helicopter rental services upon request.
OKU Japanese Restaurant serves Japanese food that combines modern take and traditional flavors. International and Asian dishes are served at the on-site Signatures Restaurant, while Paulaner Brauhaus offers home-brewed beers. If you have a sweet tooth, try Sweet Boutique, which produces fantastic cakes.
9. JW Marriott Jakarta
JW Marriott Jakarta is located in the city’s Mega Kuningan business district and a short walk to the shopping centers. It has an outdoor swimming pool, five dining options, and free Wi-Fi throughout.
While the rooms at this JW Marriott Jakarta do not match up to the two Ritz-Carlton hotels above, being smaller, admittedly, they do have floor-to-ceiling windows with nice views. This JW remains a great choice in Jakarta with great restaurants (Japanese, Cantonese, Buffet, Bar, Deli) and great club lounges. However, the security at this hotel can be quite invasive due to the hotel bombings.
If you have the choice (Elite members usually do), then take breakfast on the ground floor. A wonderful buffet spread includes a custom juice bar with fresh veg and fruits, Indian, Asian, Chinese, and Korean cuisine, noodles, fresh fruit, bakery bread and patisseries, and hot egg options, including omelets. The breakfast in the club lounge is also good, plus there is a decent selection of evening snacks and free drinks, alcohol, and wines included.
10. InterContinental Jakarta Pondok Indah
InterContinental Jakarta Pondok Indah is one of the newest luxury hotels in Jakarta which opened in early 2019, in the affluent Pondok Indah area in the heart of South Jakarta.
The latest addition to the InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts brand in Indonesia offers 311 elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites furnished with soothing tones and timeless artwork. The rooms and suites provide sweeping views of Pondok Indah, the South Jakarta district known for its exclusive estates and reputable international schools.
It is strategically integrated within a high-end commercial complex that includes a prominent shopping mall, office tower, family-friendly facilities, and a world-class golf course.
The hotel is just 45 minutes from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, offering unrivaled amenities, including the renowned Club InterContinental® and featuring the city’s only exclusive outdoor terrace dining. Breakfast at this InterContinental is first class in all respects, with a particularly great Asian counter.
In the club lounge, you will find plush sofas in a room stretching across the hotel with great views and service. There is also an Inaria Spa and a Fitness & Movement Studio. Families can look forward to an exciting, fun-filled stay with children invited to swim in the children’s swimming pool and playground area at the outdoor Planet Trekkers® on the 8th floor. Direct access to Pondok Indah Water Park and kids’ facilities in Pondok Indah Mall is also available for the little ones.
All-day dining can be enjoyed at Sugar & Spice, with a menu spanning five continents, whilst a teppanyaki ‘speak-easy’ bar takes intimate dining to new heights. Guests can connect with business colleagues and friends at The Lounge with unique single-origin coffee and the finest tea. The Aqua Lounge is the perfect venue to wind down above the city’s traffic with handcrafted cocktails by the pool.
