If you are a tourist, the city center or the beach tends to be the best location for your vacation. What you don’t want to do is book a wonderful hotel in a city like Hanoi and then be a 30 min drive from the Old Quarter. You want to be close to the best and most picturesque bits of the city.
Ho Chi Minh City, the former capital of South Vietnam, is located in the south of Vietnam, about 1,750 kilometers south of Hanoi, today’s capital. Although it was renamed back in 1975 after the Vietnam War, Ho Chi Minh City is still commonly referred to as Saigon by the Vietnamese and by tourists. The city center of Saigon is situated on the banks of the Saigon River.
Hanoi has more than 1,000 years of history. Considered to be the cultural and political center of Vietnam, this busy and modern capital city still retains its charm through beautiful lakes, the alleys of the Old Quarter, and colonial architecture.
The most well-known and important districts in Hanoi are Ba Dinh District (the French Quarter), where the government offices are located, and Hoan Kiem District (the Old Quarter), considered the city’s business hub and main tourist destination. In Ho Chi Minh City, you want to be in or near District One with all the French Colonial architecture.
Vietnam is best enjoyed in either Spring or Autumn. So, from February to April or August to October. These periods experience more moderate temperatures and lighter rainfall.

3. Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

6. The Reverie Saigon
The Reverie Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, is an unconventional yet sparkling hotel. The interiors are like marmite, but love them or hate them, they are ultra-luxurious, and it is worth taking a trip to Saigon to take a look. This hotel is within walking distance of the very center of District One.
The Reverie Saigon invokes dreamy contemplation of palaces and chateaus, and the public spaces just dazzle. Furnishings have aristocratic designs and fine linens and walls are textured with Italian silk. Serene views over the Saigon River are overrun by this Italian extravagance, and each of the rooms and suites has been individually appointed by fine Italian decorators.
There are three restaurants, The Royal Pavilion (Chinese), R& J (Italian), and Café Cardinal (French) – and The Long @ Times Square is a ground-floor café with a 48-meter bar counter that vaults the distance between Dong Khoi Street and Nguyen Hue Boulevard.
The Spa spans 1,200 m² on two floors, with ten treatment rooms, a beauty salon, and luxurious designs. The hotel also has a 120 m² gym and a 24-meter pool.
The Reverie Saigon has set a glorious stage. The blend of colors may well make your eyes water and your brain hurt, but it is uplifting to find an outlandish hotel that simply makes you go, “Wow.”
The Reverie executive club lounge is large at 542 m² on the top two floors of the hotel. It is reserved exclusively for suite guests. The decor is cream marble floors and cream walls and cream and gold furnishings with lots of mirror work.
Open seven days a week, it offers breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails & canapés, with refreshments, seasonal fruits, and light snacks on offer throughout the day. There is also a small meeting room (for seating up to 10) that is complimentary.
7. Lotte Hotel Hanoi
Lotte Hotel Hanoi is a 4-minute walk from Lotte Center Hanoi and within a 5-minute drive of Temple of Literature. This really is a great location!
Conveniently located between Hanoi’s Old Quarter and the New Business District, Lotte Hotel Hanoi connects the rich cultural history of the past and combines the promising future of Hanoi. Situated in the upper part of the magnificent 65-floor Lotte Center, Lotte Hotel Hanoi is an excellent choice and one of the best luxury hotels in Hanoi.
8. Silk Path Boutique Hanoi
Silk Path Boutique Hanoi is a boutique hotel situated in Hanoi’s atmospheric Old Quarter with beautiful rooms and excellent service. It could not be more perfectly located. It can be found opposite Hoan Kiem Lake, and if you go and have a drink in the rooftop bar, you can enjoy brilliant city views.
The rooms here are exceptional, with historic panel work and parquet floors, white linens, and English channels on the TV.
9. Somerset Grand Hanoi
Somerset Grand Hanoi is a towering serviced apartment block nestled in the midst of Hanoi’s largest commerce and business district and situated close to a host of restaurants, entertainment stretches and local attractions. The residence is also close to a number of the city’s key attractions, such as the Old Quarter, The One Pillar Pagoda, and Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre. Rooms here are modern with a hint of Asia in the decor, but the main appeal of this apartment hotel is the location.
10. Boss Legend Hotel
