Dazzling luxury hotels mix with clapboard shacks on this little Caribbean island. This vacation hot spot is ideal for those who aim to go off the radar, with quaint and low-key charms in the tropical haven of a location. From snorkeling to golfing to sailing, there’s something for everyone.

Anguilla belongs to the British West Indies. Although it’s a small island nestled in the Northern Caribbean, it boasts a world-class reputation for gentle white sand and turquoise waters. The Caribbean gem of Anguilla offers some of the finest beaches in the world.

The 35 square-mile (91 square-kilometer) island of Anguilla is one of the only islands in the British West Indies to maintain an embargo on cruise ships, casinos, and high-rise hotels, preserving the natural beauty, culture, and tranquillity of the island.

1. Four Seasons Resort & Residences Anguilla

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla is one of the best Four Seasons in the Caribbean. A tropical oasis with stunning silky white-sand beaches and gentle blue water in the British West Indies. Arrive in a place that has reinvented Caribbean luxury.

Four Seasons Resort and Private Residences Anguilla are located along the island’s northwestern shore, offering 3,200 feet (975 meters) of pristine beachfront and unobstructed views of the Caribbean Sea’s breaking surf.

This Four Seasons hotel is set on a cliff overlooking Meads and Barnes Bay. This differs from the other two Four Seasons hotels in the Caribbean as much of the hotel is on a rocky headland with brilliant views. Four Seasons Resort And Residences Anguilla offers modern architecture, with sharp right angles and walls that completely open up to the outside.

Four Seasons Resort Anguilla has three swimming pools, including the adults-only infinity pool, two tranquil private beaches, four food and dining venues, and a spa. The whole hotel has the feel of sitting right on the edge of the cliff, with matching dramatic views.

Even standard resort-view rooms are spacious and luxurious with a large sundeck. The best rooms are those with private plunge pools. A spiral staircase leads down to the rocky cove, and pathways leading to villas and Half Shell Beach Bar.

The best things about The Four Seasons Resort Anguilla are:

  • The clifftop views and infinity pool – the most Instagrammable Four Seasons for sunsets
  • The dramatic architecture
  • Many rooms have private plunge pools
  • Probably the best sunset bar in the Caribbean, where you can sip a cocktail without leaving the soothing waters of the infinity pool
  • This island has an embargo on cruise ships, so remains extremely exclusive

Four Seasons doesn’t have a Four Seasons loyalty program, so you will never be able to book a free stay by racking up and redeeming points, or by collecting points on your credit card and spending them on a Four Seasons hotel stay. It can’t be done. But you can get discounts at Four Seasons hotels and benefit from special rewards at Four Seasons hotels for no extra cost by booking your next stay via our luxury travel concierge.

10. Marriott Anguilla

There’s no Marriott hotel in Anguilla, so if you collect or want to spend Marriott Bonvoy points in Anguilla, you’re out of luck, but it is worth knowing that Marriot is getting into the home-sharing business, which means that there will be Homes & Villas by Marriott International in Anguilla soon.

The Marriott brand includes Luxury Collection, EDITION, St Regis, W Hotels, and JW Marriott, as well as mid-range brands like Autograph Collection, Renaissance, Sheraton, Le Meridien, Design Hotels, and Westin. If you collect Marriott Bonvoy points, then it’s worth knowing where you can spend them and earn them and which Marriott hotels are the best in the Caribbean.

Although you won’t find any of these Marriott brands on Anguilla, Marriott is entering a market currently dominated by home-sharing giant Airbnb with the launch of their new “Homes & Villas by Marriott International” program that includes the Caribbean market.

“The launch of Homes & Villas by Marriott International reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation as consumer travel needs evolve,” said Stephanie Linnartz, Global Chief Commercial Officer, Marriott International. “What started as a pilot a year ago is now a global offering, providing our guests with the space and amenities of a home backed by a trusted travel company and the best in loyalty benefits.”

The program, which will focus on “premium and luxury homes” in more than 100 destinations worldwide, will also see Marriott’s Bonvoy rewards program members able to earn and redeem points at the “highly-curated” homes. Their Caribbean launch will focus on luxury destinations, with a launch in St Barth and Anguilla, among other stops. The Anguilla launch, for example, includes an oceanfront villa with a private beach and a personal butler. Anguilla will also be one of Marriott’s first home rental markets.

Marriott also said the Homes & Villas program would be the setting for experiences exclusively available to members by using their points on “Marriott Bonvoy Moments.” That includes events like gourmet cooking, barbecues, and tours. Visit Marriott Homes & Villas to rent your dream Marriott home.
