Which is the best Four Seasons in Hawaii for Families? Four Seasons Maui, Oahu, Lanai, Hualalai or Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort?

The best Four Seasons in Hawaii for families is:

Here are the best Four Seasons hotel choices for families in Hawaii:

1. Four Seasons Hualalai

Set on the North Kona Coast of Hawaii Island, Four Seasons Resort Hualālai boasts a dramatic mix of white-sand beaches, dazzling oceanfront, and black-lava landscapes. Enjoy championship golf, island-fresh dining, and a genuine aloha spirit.

Four Seasons Hualalai is brilliant for several reasons. The hotel itself is perched on dramatic blackened lava from the Volcano. The entire low-rise complex is dotted with palm trees and has a long, private beach. The mix of warm sand, deep blue Pacific waters, lush green tropical foliage, and flowers means that the setting can only be described as breathtaking.

There are a number of reasons why this resort is ideal for families, not least the positions of the rooms, which are housed in intimate two-story bungalows. This means that you can request a ground floor room which is ideal for little kids to run in and out of. Even better, you can select a ground-floor poolside room, which means your entire family will have easy access to the outdoors and the pool. Conversely, if anyone in your family needs the toilet, gets worn out, or forgets essentials around the pool, being near your room is super convenient.

Ground floor rooms also have outdoor showers so your whole family can enjoy novelty lava rock showers under the stays.

The design of this low-rise hotel means that it never feels full, even though this glorious hotel often enjoys high occupancy (it’s that good!). The Four Seasons Hualalai also has a wonderful garden that stretches down to the beach, and its pools are an absolute highlight.

My favorite feature of this resort for families is King’s Pond. Four Seasons brings the ocean into the resort for you with this pool: a quarry-like pond with a sandy bottom carved free form out of the black lava and teeming with fish. It is right next to the beach and is one of the most unique resort features I have seen. It’s filled with seawater and is home to thousands of fish, including a couple of spotted eagle rays.

You and your family can swim in this pool for as long as you like with complimentary snorkel gear. Swim with real fish and rays, a truly magical experience, and all with the convenience of being just a short walk from your room. It’s a “must-do” for your bucket list. After your swim, or between swims, laze on a pool chair and have a drink or a bite to eat.

There are five other swimming pools, some with sloping and sand bottoms, some with hot tubs. You can look forward to complimentary frozen grapes poolside, which is a lovely touch, and the choice of pools and beach means that you can enjoy something different each day.

There is also a large gym with a lap pool, and of course, there is an amazing beach. From November to May, you are likely to spot whales and dolphins just offshore, and real-life turtles also meander about on the beach and off the shore, making this resort a nature lover’s dream. I could go on, but suffice to say, this is one of the best Four Seasons hotels in the world, without a doubt.

2. Four Seasons Lanai

Four Seasons Lanai, Hawaii, stands out for families because its beach is so remote that it is virtually empty. Four Seasons on Lanai features in our best Four Seasons in America, and you will not find more beautiful or more remote, empty beaches anywhere in the world.

Beyond the beach are excellent restaurants, gorgeously landscaped pools, a kids club, and activities ranging from horseback riding, off-roading tours, sporting clays, and archery to snorkel and sailing adventures, as well as tennis, championship golf, and more.

Don’t expect a great deal of nightlife here. But again, early nights fit well with families. The kids will be exhausted after spending the day building sandcastles on this vast and perfect beach. At night, any want-to-be Brian Cox’s can view the Milky Way down on the beach because of the lack of light pollution. So many stars…

3. Four Seasons Maui

In third place is Four Seasons Maui. I’m biased as I got married (Mauid) and honeymooned here! This hotel feels more vibrant than those mentioned above. There are lots of other resorts up this beach and a shopping mall within walking distance.

Four Seasons Maui sits in the center of the most exclusive resort on Maui, Wailea. Over and above the usual sitting by the pool and eating and drinking in the bars, you can walk for miles along a beachside promenade that stretches from one end of this stunning resort to the other. You can shop in a cute mall a short walk away, and you can enjoy the facilities of the other beachfront resorts along this patch of marvelous beach and coastline. You will also find the Andaz, the Fairmont, a Marriott, and Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, steps away.

For kids, there is a pool reserved exclusively for families. If you need to get away from the kids, there is a stunning pool reserved for adults only, and the beach is, as you would expect, straight out of a picture book and perfect for family days in the sand. Snorkeling equipment is provided if you want to see any fish too.

4. Four Seasons Oahu

Four Seasons Oahu is the most recent addition to Four Seasons’ Hawaiian portfolio and sits some distance from the main resort of Waikiki on Oahu. This resort is the most high-rise of the four Hawaiian Four Seasons hotels but still offers a beautiful resort with all the facilities you would expect from a five star Four Seasons resort, including a kids club.

This Four Seasons hotel is a great option for families as it is easy to get to from Honolulu (HNL) airport, it is near Waikiki, which has loads of shops and restaurants, and it tends to be the cheapest Four Seasons beach hotel on the Hawaiian islands with a beach so you can usually stay there longer for the same price!

5. Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort

Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort, is only open to guests ages 16 and older, so it is not suitable for families. This Four Seasons enhances self-discovery with luxurious Four Seasons accommodations, private spa hales, and our restaurant, Sensei by Nobu, in addition to the well-appointed amenities around the property.
