What’s the best Marriott hotel on the Amalfi Coast? Amalfi is the largest town along the coast, a coastline that stretches from Naples in the north through to Salerno in the South. Positano and Sorrento are the most popular tourist towns, along with Ravello and the islands Capri and Ischia.
There’s no luxury Marriott Bonvoy hotel in any of these towns on the Amalfi coast. This 50-kilometer stretch of coastline along the southern edge of Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula tends to favor independent hotels instead.
Every year, about 5 million people crowd onto the Amalfi coast to experience its UNESCO World Heritage landscape, with sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with small beaches and pastel-colored fishing villages. But they won’t be staying at a luxury Marriott.
We would reccomend booking Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel in the town of Amalfi, which is a historic early 13th-century monastery stuck into the cliffs above Amalfi’s harbor. Hotel Villa Fraulo is an imposing palazzo in Ravello and a great hotel choice. Il San Pietro di Positano is a glamorous hotel with wonderful terraces and the place to stay in Positano.
Belmond Hotel Caruso, perched high above the hilltop town of Ravello, is your best choice near Ravello. We just love Belmond hotels, particularly Hotel Cipriani in Venice.
We also love the Capri Palace on the island of Capri. This hotel is actually in Anacapri, which is a little town part of the way up the main hill in Capri. It has wonderful terraces with sunset views, a superb and much-loved boutique pool area, and if you can book a room with a plunge pool, a view, or both.
None of these are Marriott hotels, but all are wonderful in their own way.
There are three rather basic Marriott hotels in and around Naples: Renaissance Naples Hotel Mediterraneo, Inn Naples Airport, and Plaza Caserta, which can be used to access Caserta city center and Naples. None of these three hotels are suitable for luxury travelers. If you need inspiration, contact our luxury travel concierge to book the best hotels on the Amalfi with free benefits.
