Ritz-Carlton hotels are often some of the best Marriott Bonvoy hotels in an area. There is no Ritz-Carlton in Milan, so Bvlgari and Excelsior Hotel Gallia, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan take the top spots.
1. Bulgari Hotel Milan
Bulgari Hotel Milan (or Bvlgari Hotel Milano) is one of Milan’s smallest and most luxury boutique hotels. It is situated up an ultra-exclusive private street in central Milan, complete with 24/7 security guards and gates. Once inside this wealthy neighborhood, you turn left and head up a short driveway to Bulgari Hotel Milano.
Spa pools don’t get more sparkly than the Spa pool at Bulgari Hotel Milan. The tiles on the stairs of the pool are made of pure gold, and the mosaic tiling in the rest of the pool also sparkles like jewels. This is a serene and luxurious place to relax on a comfy lounger.
We reviewed the Bulgari Hotel Milan last time we were in Milan and found it to be similarly good to the Four Seasons Milan, they are both exquisite properties, and it’s hard to choose between them. We have listed Four Seasons Milan as one of the best Four Seasons hotels in the world because of its historic convent setting, unique cellar pool and we loved the way the main restaurant spills out onto the central courtyard.
We also reviewed Palazzo Parigi during our visit to Milan, which is another incredible hotel and one of the best Leading Hotels Of The World.
Bulgari Hotel Milan is not the cheapest Marriott in Milan, but when you book here or at any of the other luxury hotels in Milan via our luxury travel concierge we can get you free breakfast, hotel credit, room upgrade (subject to availability) and more.
2. Excelsior Hotel Gallia, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan
The Excelsior Hotel Gallia is a regal property with rooms and restaurants with terraces looking out upon the heart of Milan, Italy’s ever-progressing capital of fashion, design, gastronomy, and business.
The original building–a majestic Art Deco-era landmark built on the western edge of Piazza Duca d’Aosta, adjacent to Stazione Centrale–officially opened in 1932. Since then, a modern steel-and-glass complementary tower designed by Marco Piva has been added. Throughout the past 90 years, It has evolved in tandem with the city, keeping in step with Milan’s extraordinary advances in culture and commerce.
Excelsior Hotel Gallia stands out for its remarkable Italian spirit and prestigious location. Excelsior Hotel Gallia features 235 luxuriously appointed guest rooms, including 53 suites. The Katara Royal Suite is the largest in any Italian hotel, at 1000 m². Each and every chamber showcases Milan’s renowned aesthetic–design touches include handcrafted and modern elements by local ateliers.
The hotel is also home to Gallia Restaurant, Gallia Lounge & Bar, Terrazza Gallia, and the rooftop Italian fine dining destination, which has wonderful views. The 11,000 ft² Shiseido Spa Milan and fitness center are big attractions. There’s even a hidden cigar bar in the lobby.
Excelsior Hotel Gallia joined The Luxury Collection portfolio in 2014 which falls under the Marriott umbrella, so you can earn and burn Marriott Bonvoy points here.
3. The Westin Palace, Milan
The Westin Palace, Milan is a charismatic and modern sanctuary within the Porta Nuova district, reflecting the flourishing and dynamic evolution of the city.
High arched ceilings crown beautiful stone and parquet floored rooms, and this contemporary and stylish hotel also has a green terrace looking out onto the garden where you can eat and drink.
Two hundred thirty-one guestrooms combine the beauty of the hotel’s classical architecture with pared-back Milanese 21st-century design. Eat well at the signature Italian restaurant PanEVO, which serves traditional regional cuisine in an intimate location, or walk through the lobby to reach The Lounge Bar, the ideal backdrop for casual gatherings with an authentic salotto feel.
Although we often consider The Westin a step down from a Luxury Collection hotel, this is not the case here. Handpainted frescoes liven up the walls, corridors are festooned with gloriously luxurious sitting areas, and palms soften backlit alcoves. The design of this hotel has been deeply considered, but then you would expect this. Style is what Milan is all about, and The Westin Palace does not disappoint.
4. Duo Milan Porta Nuova, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel
The words “modern,” “colorful,” and “fun” come to mind when you enter the doors at Duo Milan Porta Nuova, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. Completely renovated and located in Porta Nuova, Milan’s trendiest district, this hotel is the perfect place to enjoy the Milanese social scene made of design, fashion, and leisure. Who knew orange and green work as decor colors? But they really do here. It may be the Italian touch.
Two hundred thirty-nine rooms and suites feature vibrant colors and unexpected details. There’s an informal bistrot with Italian and international cuisine, and an amazing top-floor panoramic Peruvian lounge & restaurant will open mid-2024, offering sharing, tapas-style dishes, and delicious, Instagram-able cocktails until late at night.
There’s a café and courtyard for informal business meetings or relaxing breaks, a fully equipped fitness center, and five meeting rooms, all with natural daylight at this luxury hotel that falls under Marriott. It’s not the Bulgari that takes our best spot, but this hotel is as stylish as you would expect from this chic city.
