Location
The Fullerton Singapore is located at the mouth of the Singapore River and is a mass of grand staircases, high ceilings, and marble. This area was originally the heart of colonial Singapore. A nearby footbridge dates back as far as 1870.
When you stay here, you are a three-minute walk from the boat quay, which offers a lively nightlife with many restaurants and bars. Beyond Boat Quay, other quays again offer great options for nightlife. Chinatown and Little India are also close by if you take public transport.
The club lounge at the Fullerton Singapore is situated on level 4 and has a welcoming design with Peranakan touches representing this destination’s mixed Chinese, Malay, and Indonesian heritage.
Style & Character
The exterior of The Fullerton Singapore is imposing, with pillars lining either side of the building and huge golden flowerpots on either side of the entrance, playing host to luscious palm trees that guard the doorway.
Inside, sweeping staircases lead their way up through ludicrously high glass-ceilinged atriums that offer foyer seating areas.
Hotel rooms are extremely generous in size, as are the bathrooms. Some rooms have balconies that you can sit out on and that are shaded by the numerous surrounding skyscrapers. A highlight is the pool, which is infinity in design on floor two and has great views of the river and bay.
From the rooftop Lantern Bar at the Fullerton Hotel, you can actually look out to the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore with its ridiculous rooftop pool that spans the breadth of the top of three buildings. It’s quite something to look at.
Food & Drink
The Straits Club Lounge at the Fullerton hotel offers a champagne breakfast, tea, and cocktails in the evening.
There are daily specials at each mealtime, and as you would expect from a hotel of this caliber, the food quality and the array are excellent. Although it is lovely to take advantage of these freebies, it is worth popping up to the rooftop bar to take in the views at least once during your stay.
Breakfast is an extravaganza with a buffet and eggs to order. Toast, pastries, and sides like avocado, fruit, bacon, and Asian options are all available. This is a generous offering, and you should be left full.
The afternoon tea is particularly good and is delivered on 3-tiered wedding cake style plates loaded with plenty of smoked salmon, sandwiches, cakes, and clotted cream on delicious scones.
The evening offering once again uses the multi-tiered plate delivery, and the plates are piled with lovely bits like chicken salad, yakitori sticks, cheesy breads, fried bits, and cakes, all in numerous mini portions. Evening drinks and snacks are all for free if you book a club room. There are plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available, depending on what takes your fancy.
Also included as part of the club lounge are in-room registration, preferred laundry rates, a pressing service for up to two clothing items, and late check-out (subject to availability). A meeting room is also available for up to six persons for two hours.
Conclusion
The setting of this lounge is classy, with wooden flooring and lots of tables and chairs, which are ideal for guests to enjoy the complimentary lounge food. The food here is exceptional and plentiful, you will not be left hungry, and the evening drinks are also plentiful with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.
