Receive complimentary breakfast at Luxury Hotels

How do you get late checkout at Four Seasons hotels and resorts? It’s often so helpful to get a late checkout, particularly if you have a late flight departure. If you have the time available to stay longer at the hotel and use the hotel’s facilities for just a few more hours, why wouldn’t you?

Usually, checkout is around 12:00 or 1:00 pm, and check-in is around 3:00 or 4:00 pm. Therefore, Late checkout is likely anytime from 12:00 midday to 8:00 or 9:00 pm.

While evening checkouts are rare, our luxury travel concierge agents have occasionally secured wildly late checkouts for our clients because clients who book with us are prioritized. It’s always worth asking – we’re delighted to help!

We can secure prioritized late checkout, prioritized room upgrades, free breakfast for two, resort credit, and more at luxury hotels like Four Seasons hotels, so get in touch if you can use any of these perks.

Read on for our brilliant tips to increase your chances of securing a late checkout at a Four Seasons hotel.

1. Book Via An Agent That Specializes In Late Checkout

Book via a specialist agent that focuses on prioritizing late checkouts. If you book your next stay via our concierge, you will usually get prioritized late checkout, free breakfast at Four Seasons hotels, hotel credit, welcome amenities, and more at all the best luxury hotels.

We are the official Preferred Partner Four Seasons agents, and we have direct contacts at every luxury hotel. We can request and confirm late checkout, where possible. Some luxury hotels we partner with will confirm a late checkout on booking.

You also get all your relevant loyalty points and perks when you book with our agents. While loyalty points aren’t relevant when booking the best Four Seasons hotels because Four Seasons doesn’t have a rewards program, if you book luxury Marriott, Hyatt, Hiltons and so forth, you will get your usual loyalty points and perks when you book without agents.

Late checkout is so nice. You can enjoy lazing in your room for longer and enjoy the hotel’s facilities for longer, with a place to escape to. If you want to use the pool, you can return to the privacy of your room to shower and clean up, and if you have a late flight, having a room to snooze into the evening will make all the difference and destress your travels. Our specialized agents will do their very best to help make late checkout happen for you!

2. Ask in Advance

When should you ask for a late checkout? Ask when you book. Then ask again when you checkin, and if the answer is still no, ask again 24 hours before checkout. Hotel occupancy is unpredictable, and it’s just possible that the hotel can jiggle their rooms about to make this happen to you. You may also find some reservation agents who may be more generous with their time and persistence in making this happen for you, so by asking repeatedly, you may eventually hit on an agent who can work their magic for you.

Some hotels offer online check-in services that allow you to specify your preferences, including a late checkout request before you arrive, so it is worth looking out for this option or asking your agent to look out for it.

3. Get Your Agent To Ask

Don’t rely on impersonal automated requests. The personal touch always works better. If you book a hotel stay via an agent who delivers millions of dollars of bookings to that hotel brand, they will have more klout than you in demanding late checkout. They will also have contacts with management, so they are speaking to the right people. Even if your booking doesn’t automatically come with prioritized late checkout However, a personalized agent is far more likely to have success in making this happen than a guest. Let your agent do your legwork!

4. Join Loyalty Programs

Members of hotel loyalty programs often receive perks and prioritized benefits such as late checkout privileges. Joining these programs can increase your chances of getting a late checkout. While this is not relevant for Four Seasons hotel bookings, this does help if you want late checkout at a Marriott hotel, or a Hyatt or Hilton. The higher your membership tier, the more priority the hotel will likely give to your late checkout.

5. Stay Regularly

if you are a repeat guest at a hotel, all your benefits will likely be prioritized. You are likely to get a better room, and crucially, the hotel will be more inclined to try their best to shuffle rooms around to give you a late checkout on your room.

6. Explain Your Situation

Explain why you need a late checkout, like a late flight departure or a special occasion. Sharing these details may help staff justify your late checkout to management. This may make them more inclined to grant your request.

7. Offer to Pay

In some cases, offering to pay an additional fee for a late checkout or an extra half-day stay may increase your chances of success. Be prepared to negotiate. If your room is free the following night, the hotel might consider offering you a discounted nightly rate if you simply need to use the room into the early evening.

8. Book In Low Season

Hotels are more likely to gift late checkouts when occupancy is low, which may be in low season or maybe on a Sunday night. If you book outside the main season, late checkout will likely happen.

9. Check Again With Staff

If you cannot secure a late checkout via your agent or during check-in, consider following up with the front desk staff on the checkout day. Sometimes, last-minute accommodations can be arranged or juggled, depending on hotel availability.

10. Book Club Lounge Access

If the Four Seasons hotel you have booked can’t extend late checkout, consider booking a room with club lounge access. You could book a club room for your entire stay or try to book it just for the last night. We have outlined the Four Seasons hotels with the best club lounges previously. If your hotel is one of these, consider booking a room with a club lounge as an alternative way to have comfort for the hours between checkout and the time you have to leave.

This concept works for all luxury hotels, and we have reviewed the best hotel club lounges in the world. A club lounge will allow you to relax and grab a complimentary bite to eat and drink. These lounges are brilliant and almost as good as having your own room while you wait around in the hotel for your flight. Lounge access late into the evening can be very useful for an extended stay.

If all else fails and you can’t get a late checkout or club lounge access, most Four Seasons hotels permit guests to use all their facilities until you leave, and most also have a communal room or changing area to use and shower in.

This means you can enjoy all the hotel facilities, the pool, the lounges, the gym, and the beach, even without having a room. You can then clean up in the hotel’s shared changing rooms before heading to the airport. This facility is a huge advantage if you have a late flight, and our agents can confirm the process and what communal changing and shower facilities are available in advance so that you can plan your last day.
