We compare Four Seasons Punta Mita Vs. The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort and share which is better. Both of these luxury hotels, sit on the same peninsula, right on the beach, and both are highly luxurious and brilliant.
Four Seasons is vast in size and has a better location and better beaches. It is the better option if you want to escape and find a peaceful spot for yourself. If you have kids, there are fun pools and a great kids club at the Four Seasons, and if you want to avoid kids, the adults-only pool is perfect.
Clients who have booked via our luxury travel concierge particularly love the oceanfront rooms at this Four Seasons, where you can enjoy whale watching while eating the complimentary breakfast benefit that our agents can secure for you. In the evening, these terraces also provide magnificent sunset vistas.
The St. Regis Punta Mita is a slightly smaller hotel and feels more boutique and less spread out. Its grounds are smaller but its more modern design mean that you get to enjoy a very stylish beach club.
1. Location: Four Seasons Punta Mita Vs. The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort
Both Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita and The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort are located on the same private peninsula in Punta Mita, Mexico. Four Seasons was the first development in the area, and as a result, it has the best location on the peninsula, with the best views and the best beaches.
The Four Seasons resort covers a vast and sprawling, so it feels large and it has wonderful rooms, amenities and service. It is so large that you have the space to find your own little corner and some peace and quiet if you wish.
The entire area is known for its pristine beaches, lush tropical forests, and stunning ocean views. The resorts are part of the larger Punta Mita development, which includes a golf course and various luxury residences.
10 Best Four Seasons Beach Resorts
The best Four Seasons hotels & resorts for beaches in the world include Four Seasons Mallorca, Four Seasons Lanai Hawaii, Four Seasons Surf Club on Miami Beach, Four Seasons Nevis, Four Seasons Costa Rica, Four Seasons Los Cabos At Costa Palmas, Four Seasons Palm Beach, and Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat for its beach club. To be honest, there are several other properties that we wanted to include in this article, but we would have to stray into the realms of the top 20 or 30 to include all our favorite Four Seasons hotels with beaches. There are just so many great ones!
2. Loyalty
Four Seasons does not have a loyalty scheme. Instead, it relies on its exceptional reputation to attract guests. St. Regis is part of Marriott Bonvoy, so you can collect and burn your Marriott points here. This is the kind of resort that attracts point-redeeming guests because of its beachfront location.
3. Beaches
Both Four Seasons Punta Mita and St. Regis Punta Mita both offer exceptional beach experiences, but the beaches at Four Seasons are better.
The Four Seasons Punta Mita has two separate, secluded beaches, known for their different vibes and setups. One of the beaches, the one in front of the beachfront suites, is secluded and peaceful and is ideal for a waterside stroll. You can read more about this beach in our dedicated review of Four Seasons Punta Mita. The other has more facilities and is more happening.
Review: Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita
Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita is a five-star oceanfront resort. It neighbors Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort, an intimate adult-only jungle retreat. Both are set on a secluded peninsula on Mexico's Pacific coast. These are undoubtedly two of the best Four Seasons hotels in Mexico. Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita is situated in the exclusive Punta Mita area of the Riviera Nayarit, along the pristine Pacific coast of Mexico. This luxurious Resort enjoys a privileged location on a lush, tropical peninsula surrounded by white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters.
St. Regis Punta Mita has a glorious beach that edges the resort. The beach club here has a chic modern look that feels more “adult” oriented. The hotel is not on the best beach in Punta Mita and is a bit rocky, but it is close to the golf club and has nice views.
3. Pools
Four Seasons Punta Mita offers four pools. The Nuna pool is warm with shallow splashing areas for children. Tamai Pool Complex has two main pools, including a stunning and intimate infinity adults-only pool although this pool lacks ocean views. There are also two plunge pools, a whirlpool, a full bar, and eight private cabanas in this complex.
The Four Seasons lazy river comes complete with rubber blow-up rings and offers relaxing rides along the pool’s currents. Four Seasons Private Retreats at Punta Mita also offers vacation homes with ocean-facing private pools.
The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort also has stunning pools but no lazy river. Both resorts have the thickly padded loungers and pool service you would expect from a 5-star luxury hotel.
4. Accommodations
Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita offers a total of 177 luxurious spacious, and elegantly appointed guest rooms, suites, and villas. Rooms feature contemporary Mexican décor and stunning ocean views or lush gardens. The accommodations are designed to blend seamlessly with nature, providing a tranquil atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding and de-stressing.
The oceanfront rooms are particularly private if you want to find your own quiet slice of paradise. They are up the hillside above the cliff with great privacy and incredible 180-degree views. These rooms have lovely terrace areas, many with plunge pools, where you can enjoy your breakfast while watching the whales out in the ocean. You also get fantastic vistas from these terraces as the sun sets.
The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort features a total of 120 luxurious guest rooms, suites, and villas. Each accommodation is elegantly appointed and offers stunning views of the ocean, gardens, or resort grounds. Guests can expect lavish amenities, including butler service, spacious marble bathrooms with deep soaking tubs, and expansive balconies or terraces overlooking the ocean or resort grounds.
Some of the St. Regis rooms are adjacent to the pool and bar, so we would suggest requesting a room that is not close to the pool and bar to avoid noise issues.
Both Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita and The St. Regis Punta Mita provide guests with luxurious accommodations and a high level of personalized service, but the Four Seasons rooms offer newly refurbished decor and seclusion and are therefore better.
Best Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts In The World
The best Four Seasons hotels & resorts in the world include Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, Four Seasons Lanai and Four Seasons Resort Hualalai in Hawaii, Four Seasons Surf Club on Miami Beach, Four Seasons Costa Rica, Four Seasons Los Cabos At Costa Palmas, Four Seasons Palm Beach, and Four Seasons Hampshire. To be honest, we wanted to include several other properties in this article, but we would have to stray into the realms of the top 20 or 30 or even top 100 properties to include all our favorite Four Seasons hotels. There are just so many great ones!
6. Atmosphere
Four Seasons Punta Mita is nestled in the lush jungle. As you would expect from a Four Seasons hotel, the grounds are immaculate, kept in an almost unreal state, and they cater to every need. The joyous staff greets you wherever you go, so you feel included and part of this gracious resort. In our opinion, Four Seasons hotels almost always have the edge in friendliness and service.
The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort is newer, so the overall feel is modern and more compact, with less walking required to get fro your room to the amenities. It has a standout spa for those seeking a wellness retreat and feels more boutique than Four Seasons.
The crowd at these two resorts tends to be slightly different. As Four Seasons guests cannot stay on points, everyone at Four Seasons is paying in cash for their stay. Guests at the St. Regis can stay on points they have collected from credit cards or at corporate conferences and trips so there are likely to be some guests staying there on a freebee. If you are able to book here on points, this is an advantage, and a reason to book the St. Regis. If you are paying cash for your stay, Four Seasons gives you more bang for your buck.
Four Seasons Vs. St. Regis. Which Is Best?
Which is best, Four Seasons or St. Regis? While the choice between these two hotel brands varies between individual hotels, Four Seasons hotels are generally more service-oriented, have more facilities like larger grounds and pools, and, in my opinion, are more modern and stylish. St. Regis hotels are often smaller and are often more ornate in design. That said, there are exceptional properties within each brand, so we break the comparison down into the different features of the hotel.
7. Best Way To Book
Book any luxury hotel, including any St. Regis or Four Seasons hotel, with our concierge to get free benefits, including prioritized room upgrades, free breakfasts resort credit, and more. We also apply your Bonvoy loyalty number to Any Marriott branded bookings like St. Regis bookings, so you can still collect your points and miles when you book with us (if you book via a third-party automated agency, you will not get your loyalty points or our complimentary benefits).
It is worth mentioning that that this Four Seasons does sometimes offer third or fourth-night free deals so it’s worth timing your stay to take advantage of these offers. Our concierge can help you with which dates have great offers and which don’t.
8. Conclusion
For service, amenities, seclusion, and better beaches, you should pick Four Seasons. If you want to avoid children, the Tamai adult pool at Four Seasons Punta Mita is also the top choice. if you have children, the Four Seasons kids club is vibrant and fun.
If you want a more boutique and less sprawling atmosphere, or if you want to book a stay with your Marriott Bonvoy points, go for the St Regis. The kids club here is not as fun, and the beach is not quite as good, but the prices can be cheaper at this St. Regis, which may justify staying here over the Four Seasons resort.
Ultimately, we are nitpicking between these hotels. While the Four Seasons is a marginally better hotel, both hotels are gorgeous. If the St. Regis is cheaper, this could arguably be the better choice, but if they come in at a similar price, the Four Seasons is our top pick.
