When comparing Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort to its sister hotel, the Outrigger Reef, it’s worth knowing which is the best hotel option for booking Waikiki Beach.
We have stayed in Waikiki on many occasions and have stayed in both of these hotels. We particularly love the Halekulani and Royal Hawaiian in Waikiki and the Four Seasons Oahu beyond Waikiki.
1. Location: Outrigger Reef Hotel Vs. Outrigger Waikiki Beach
Both the Outrigger Reef Hotel and Outrigger Waikiki Beach boast prime locations along the iconic Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii. Both have direct beach access.
The Outrigger Reef Hotel is situated slightly further west along the beachfront, on a slightly rocker patch of beach. It offers a more tranquil atmosphere within walking distance of the vibrant Waikiki shopping and dining district. It provides easy access to attractions like Fort Derussy Beach Park and the Waikiki Aquarium.
The Outrigger Waikiki Beach is centrally located in the heart of Waikiki, directly overlooking the beach and adjacent to the bustling Kalakaua Avenue. This prime location puts guests within steps of the area’s renowned shopping, dining, entertainment options, and popular attractions like the International Market Place.
The downside of Outrigger Waikiki Beach’s central position can be noise in its rooms and a hecitc vibe. You can access the beach via a route inside the hotel or a beach access point on the pavement fronting the hotel.
Both properties offer the excitement of Waikiki Beach, with the Outrigger Reef Hotel offering a slightly quieter retreat and the Outrigger Waikiki Beach providing easy access to the area’s vibrant energy.
You need to weigh up the possibility of some noise at Outrigger Waikiki Beach versus its beautifully convenient location for everything you could possibly need. It’s nice to have everything on your doorstep!
