Receive complimentary breakfast at Luxury Hotels
Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel, which is one of our favorite hotels in the world, has just announced the opening of a new Penthouse, which will easily be one of the best suites available on the French Riviera.
While prices of this slice of paradise have not yet been revealed, we can share that even the base Pinewood View rooms at this glorious hotel start at over €3,000 EUR per night in the summer, so expect to pay considerably more for this magnificent suite.
For a more reasonable price, the rates drop by around two-thirds in the shoulder season, so in March, April, October, and November, and if you book via our luxury travel concierge, you will get free breakfast, hotel credit, prioritized room upgrades and more at any Four Seasons hotel, whenever you decide to stay.
This particular Penthouse suite is designed to make the most of the spectacular sea views. The Suite’s bespoke interiors are the work of acclaimed Parisian designer Sybille de Margerie, who has designed the suite in earthy palettes that reflect the surrounding landscape and Mediterranean coastline.
Ideally located on the top floor of the Hotel’s historic building, the Penthouse is unique for its spacious rooms and impressive terrace. Like a lookout, it offers a breathtaking sea view of the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula.
Sybille de Margerie has chosen a very strong decorative approach that mixes classicism and modernity. This is illustrated in particular by the contrasting natural and sophisticated materials, matt and glossy finishes, and pastel shades (sky blue, powder pink, absinthe green, and pale yellow). While each hour of the day reveals different details, the feeling of serenity and harmony remains.
The light-coloured living room is the very expression of timeless chic. The walls, dressed in traditional moldings, are punctuated by alcoves and veined marble door frames for a highly sculptural effect. This duality is softened by the sensual lines of the mirror and furniture.
Several abstract touches of blue subtly evoke the sea, such as the carpet in the center of the room or the fresco painting on the ceiling inspired by Jean Cocteau’s emblematic lines. The marble mosaic pattern on the floor in both the living room and the bathroom reflects meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The primary bedroom has been designed with the same elegance. The wall, created with an equally refined approach and in perfect harmony with the living room ceiling, creates the illusion of a cocoon where the shades of blue gradually soften. The headboard, meanwhile, is made up of three panels upholstered in cream-coloured fabric and leather, accented with gilded metal strips, creating this refined continuity between the two spaces.
Herringbone parquet flooring and other textile elements, including greige curtains and a thick textured carpet, add to the sense of comfort and well-being. The same impression is created in the bathroom, where the freestanding bath offers a memorable view of the horizon.
The second bedroom features remarkable straw marquetry. The shimmering nuances and reflections of this natural material contrast with the carpet’s pointillist patterns in a palette of yellow, ochre and green, in reference to the surrounding landscape.
All the rooms in the Penthouse have large windows opening onto the outside.
Designed by French architect Luc Svetchine, the terrace has a layered structure that recalls the decks of a boat, with each tier designed to sublimate the spectacular panorama. The main focus is the grand central avenue linking the Hotel to the sea, while to the north, part of the terrace overlooks the Aleppo pines that carpet the Cap Ferrat peninsula. A plunge pool on the edge of the belvedere flanks a leafy garden that stretches along the crest of the vast rooftop terrace, where the sweet scent of white roses blends with the essence of the Mediterranean maquis and the salty sea breeze. A secondary terrace accessible from the second bedroom will offer additional dining and lounge areas for ultimate relaxation.
The Penthouse includes a Superior Pinewood Room, creating a chic two-bedroom apartment, complete with 100 square meters (1080 square feet) of furnished outdoor spaces for guests to relax, unwind and entertain.
