Book A Hotel

We experienced the British Airways Club Europe Business Class breakfast onboard an early morning flight from London Heathrow (LHR) to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) last week. I never book Redeye flights. However, we experienced their early morning service a few days ago due to a flight mess-up, so I thought it would be worth reviewing.

British Airways actually canceled our flight to Venice the previous day, and because we had suffered delay after delay, and the cancellation was due to the crew’s flight hours running out, British Airways put us up in the Airport Hilton Terminal 5 and rerouted us via Paris Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport on a redeye at 6:40 am. This meant we got to enjoy breakfast.

We arrived at the airport just past 4:00 am, having spent the previous day sampling both the Galleries South Lounge in Terminal 5 and their newest British Airways Galleries lounge at Satelite Terminal 5B, which, by the way, is one of the best British Airways lounges in Terminal 5.

We were a little fed up with Heathrow Terminal 5 at this point, so we headed for a quick bacon butty in the Galleries North lounge in Terminal 5, which is just beyond security, before heading down to our gate, which was situated on ground level at Terminal 5.

This North lounge is my least favorite British Airways lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 5 as it can get very busy because of its convenience, but it is so very convenient, and we didn’t have long before our flight, so it worked for us. The food and drink in this lounge are the same as in all the other British Airways Galleries lounges. The view is arguably better than the Galleries South lounge in Terminal 5, as you can look out at the planes from a large portion of the lounge.

Terminal 5 exclusively hosts British Airways flights, and we have reviewed the British Airways Galleries North Airport Lounge Terminal 5 below. You can access the British Airways Airport lounges in London Heathrow Terminal 5 by buying or upgrading your ticket to Club Europe, Club World, or First Class. Oneworld Sapphire or Emerald members, and British Airways Executive Club Silver or Gold, also get free access to this lounge, whatever class of travel they are flying.

British Airways Flight Experience

Because of the ridiculously early flight time, I got a nice sunrise shot of a BA plane in front of the gate, which you can see below. We didn’t get to take this plane. Instead, we were loaded onto a bus and took a rather long journey through two tunnels to get to our plane.

We then had to lug our heavy roll-on cases up a temporary flight of steps placed on the tarmac, so I didn’t manage to get a picture of our Airbus A319 plane’s exterior, but I got a picture of the breakfast, which was delicious.

Onboard the flight from London to Paris only took 45 minutes. It was a quick up and down. As soon as we took off, the BA staff quickly distributed breakfast to the three rows of Club Europe seats.

Food & Drink

There were two choices. Full English, which was scrambled egg with sausages and beans and a cheesy omelet with a side of mushrooms. The whole breakfast plate was suitable for vegetarians. No one had selected a vegan option, so I’m unsure what that would have been.

Perhaps it was my tiredness, but I really enjoyed my omelet. It was very tasty. The Omelet came with a croissant and jam and a sweet dessert, which I didn’t try, but it was nice to have some protein first thing, and it was much better than the cold, uninteresting, British Airways Club Europe afternoon tea.

Conclusion

The British Airways staff were super cheery for first thing in the morning, so I take my hat off to them as we felt like death warmed up, and the pilot got us there safely, so it was an enjoyable flight.

Following this flight, we reviewed the Air France Lounge at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) as well as detailing our transfers between terminals at Charles de Gaulle Airport which is another story.
