What are the 10 best Marriott Bonvoy beach hotels in Europe? The Marriott brand includes Luxury Collection, EDITION, St Regis, W Hotels, and JW Marriott, as well as mid-range brands like Autograph Collection, Renaissance, Sheraton, Le Meridien, Design Hotels, and Westin.
European beaches offer a complete range of beaches, from the black sand and rather unappealing beaches in the Costa Del Sol in Spain to the glorious golden sands of Sardinia and Portugal. Most of the best beach hotels in the French Riviera import their own sand as the beaches simply aren’t that appealing around much of this coastline. But there are some truly magnificent beaches across Europe, and many of them have Marriott hotels on, so here is our pick of the best!
Whether you’re on the hunt for a romantic getaway, some outdoorsy fun, or the chance to dive into the local gastronomy scene, we’ve come up with an outstanding list of European Marriott beach destinations to match every type of escape or mood.
1. Hotel Romazzino, a Luxury Collection Hotel
Sardinia is an Italian island overflowing with white-sand beaches. The coastline you want to visit is Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda. Spiaggia del Principe (Prince Beach), in a remote cove, is only around 5 minutes drive from the Hotel Romazzino, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Costa Smeralda. This hotel also has its own beach directly in front of the hotel, with soft sand and sparkling turquoise water.
This Rewards Category 8 Marriott Bonvoy hotel is set between emerald waters and verdant scented gardens. Hotel Romazzino is a whitewashed building gently resting on a lengthy beach of the finest sand.
Hotel Romazzino invites you to discover your nature and embrace a better you. Reflecting on the true meaning of uncomplicated wellbeing, Hotel Romazzino is definitely one of the best beach & spa resorts of the Mediterranean.
2. St Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort
St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort is set on the stunning coastline of the Balearic island of Mallorca. Tucked behind a gated driveway, this stunning hotel features terracotta roofs, whitewashed walls, and elegant arches.
Positioned parallel to the coastline, every room offers views of the gardens and the sparkling ocean beyond. The hotel radiates warmth and sophistication with its luxurious furnishings, rich fabrics, and carefully curated artwork.
The sleek, newly designed bar and lounge areas provide a chic atmosphere, while the rooms have a fresh, modern aesthetic. Balconies and terraces wrap around the property, offering breathtaking views as the sun sets.
The extensive gardens come alive under the Mallorcan sun, showcasing a vibrant blend of lush greenery, colorful flowers, and fragrant blooms. Winding pathways lined with verdant foliage lead to serene pools and inviting restaurants, with pine trees providing shade to the tables at Mar restaurant on the garden’s edge.
A metal gate at the garden’s end opens to a coastal pathway leading to a small sandy cove nestled at the base of the cliffs. This secret cove gives guests access to the warm waters of the Meditteranean right in front of the resort.
3. JW Marriott Venice
JW Marriott Venice is another one of the best Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Europe. If you book this as a redemption, it is cheaper than the St Regis or the other ultra-lux options, and it sits on its own private island.
JW Marriott is the exclusive inhabitant of the small Venetian island of Isola Delle Rosa, one of the largest islands in the Venetian lagoon and the youngest. It was artificially created in 1870 with materials from the construction of the Santa Marta commercial port.
Pool rooms here (pictured above) are the best rooms at the JW Marriott Venice and offer their own private plunge pool with direct lagoon access and waterfront views. The problem is that the beaches on this private island are fairly poor. In fact, there are verdant green gardens, but the island is edged by muddy banks rather than sandy beaches. Much of the Venice lagoon is muddy, and it is only on the outer island, Lido, that you actually find a big sandy beach.
Nonetheless, for private plunge pools on the edge of the water, The JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa is brilliant. It also has two pools, one rooftop with magnificent views, and one within the greenery, so what you don’t get in beach is more than made up for with all the other offerings.
Beyond the beautiful rooms, fantastic rooftop pool, and another pool flanked with loungers, numerous bars, and restaurants, and beautiful large grounds, the hotel is a 15-minute private JW Marriott (free) boat trip away from the center (+ wait time & loading time).
For your beach fix, head to Lido, an almost seven-mile-long sandbar in the Venice Lagoon and the Adriatic Sea, with the area’s top shoreline for sunbathers.
This private island Marriott is one of the cheapest luxury Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Venice.
4. The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino
Soak in some Greek sun along the unforgettable shoreline of the Costa Navarino. The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino is a Rewards Category 6 beachfront hotel located by the Ionian Sea in Costa Navarino, the prime sustainable destination in the Mediterranean.
The Westin Resort Costa Navarino features elegant rooms and suites with inviting sea, golf or resort views, and expanded terraces or balconies to connect with the splendor of the hotel’s setting. All ground-floor units also offer an individual infinity pool.
Nearby, there is an impressive Aqua Park and an indoor sports arena, a wide selection of sports – including two signature golf courses, outdoor activities, and numerous authentic cultural experiences.
Savor nourishing menus at a stunning variety of restaurants and bars, unwind at the 1.5 km-long sandy beach or by the pools, and rejuvenate with signature therapies at the award-winning Anazoe Spa & Thalassotherapy.
5. Sheraton Rhodes Resort
Sheraton Rhodes Resort is a Rewards Category 4 Marriott Bonvoy hotel, so it is one of the cheapest in our European best beach listing.
Rhodes, a city with a 2,400-year history, the place that gave birth to legends and hosted significant personalities of politics, the arts, and culture, with a beauty that enthralled its conquerors through the centuries, hosts the welcoming Sheraton Rhodes Resort.
Saunter through narrow serpentine streets. Walk past ancient churches, mosques, and remarkable structures like the Gothic Palace of the Grand Master, with its imposing battlements and towers. History buffs should visit the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes (housed inside a medieval structure built for the Hospital of the Knights of St. John) and explore Rhodes’ storied past.
Farther afield, to the southeast, the ancient Acropolis of Lindos and the surrounding archaeological site offer up incredible views of the nearby ports and the sea, all harkening back to a Hellenistic time when the goddess Athena ruled supreme.
The Sheraton Rhodes Resort cocooned in the beauty of its attractive lush gardens with the blue expanse of the pristine waters in front of its private beach, is ideally situated in a key spot in Ixia, just 4 kilometers from the famous Medieval Town of Rhodes, the best-preserved Medieval City in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Monument.
6. W Barcelona
Spain and beach life are synonymous for many. Yet, there’s more to this nation’s sand-adjacent culinary scene than tapas and paella. In Barcelona, for example, treat yourself to hearty Catalan chow like Suquet de peix (fish stew).
W Barcelona is a Rewards Category 8 Marriott Bonvoy beach hotel designed by world-renowned architect Ricardo Bofill. W Barcelona offers a combination of luxury and comfort in each of its 473 fabulous guestrooms and suites.
This 5-star hotel is located on the beachfront along the famous Barceloneta Boardwalk. Each guestroom and suite provides panoramic views over the Mediterranean Sea and the city of Barcelona.
Get glamorous on their 26th-floor hotspot at the ECLIPSE rooftop bar, or make your way down to the Living Room to find their new restaurant FIRE & the W LOUNGE for a cocktail (or two). Take a dip at the WET pool surrounded by sun terraces and cabanas, and enjoy the only beachfront access at any hotel in the city.
7. Hotel Arts Barcelona, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel
Hotel Arts Barcelona, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel is one of the few luxury hotels in Barcelona which is nest to the beach but unlike the W Barcelona, it doesn’t have direct beach access.
The nearest metro station is 10 minutes walk away, and from there you can connect to a tram which takes you nearer to the hotel if you don’t fancy the walk. The hotel is actually located in the city’s Olympic Village area (and is home to a Frank Gehry sculpture). The attraction of this hotel is, of course, the beach plus the two excellent pools.
Renowned the world over for its impeccable service and lavish accommodations, the stunning 44 storey Hotel Arts Barcelona, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, offers panoramic sea or city views from each of its 483 guestrooms, suites, and 28 duplex penthouses. The latter is located on the top floors of the hotel and offers butler service and the use of a MINI Cooper.
The rooms are great here, with particularly lovely bathrooms with Asprey toiletries (top suites have Bulgari), a bath, and a very large shower. Interestingly, some of the rooms are looking up the beach at the W-hotel, which is in a similar location to the Hotel Arts Barcelona, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Both are good choices in Barcelona, although only one has a club lounge.
The Ritz-Carlton does have a reputation for running excellent club lounges. You need to book a room with executive club lounge access to get executive floor privileges on the 33rd floor with a triple-height ceiling and great views across the marina and coastline. The club provides complimentary breakfast, tea service, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts.
The disadvantage of this hotel, much like the W-Barcelona, is the location, on the edge of the city center and not within the history and action or the city or the crowds near La Ramblas. The advantage is that it is next to the beach and has a club lounge, super pools, spa, and gym, etc., plus the two Michelin-starred restaurants and the classy bar.
If you are a Platinum Marriott Bonvoy member, expect a one-category upgrade but no breakfast or club access. If you are a Platinum Marriott Bonvoy member and you, book with our luxury travel concierge, you will get your own Platinum benefits plus our extra set of benefits.
