Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, is a new clifftop resort that is expected to open in Mallorca in 2025. This follows the recent openings of Mandarin Oriental properties in Barcelona and Madrid, and this Mallorca Mandarin Oriental will undoubtedly become one of the best Mandarin Oriental hotels in the world.
The hotel is currently being built. You could hear the building work and see the cranes from the St. Regis Mardavall when we stayed there in September 2024, as the Mandarin Oriental is being developed right next door.
Location
The property is ideally located within Calvià, one of the most exclusive municipalities of the island, and close to key attractions such as the Portals port, the historical landmarks of the capital Palma de Mallorca, and the rather ropey international airport located just outside the city.
Having recently stayed at St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort, I can vouch for the location of this resort. The clifftop setting is stunning, and many of the rooms and terraces at the St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort and, therefore, the Mandarin Oriental Mallorca next door will offer incredible views across this beautiful bay.
The beach in front of both resorts is a tiny cove reached by walking down steep steps (the bay is pictured above). This Mandarin Oriental is not, therefore, a beach resort. There are no hotel loungers on this sandy cove, so neither the St. Regis nor the Mandarin Oriental are considered beach hotels.
Instead, it is a resort where you will want to laze in the grounds and gardens and enjoy their beautiful pools, the clifftop setting, and wonderful sunsets.
Style & Character
The resort’s new contemporary design is being created by HKS, Estudio Lamela, an award-winning Spanish architect practice with strong sustainability credentials, while the interior design, featuring many local cultural references, is overseen by award-winning designer Laura Gonzalez.
Service & Facilities
A comprehensive Spa at Mandarin Oriental will offer the Group’s signature wellness therapies and beauty treatments, with a focus on local nature-inspired programs. The spa includes an indoor swimming pool, while three outdoor pools are located across the resort. Guests will also have access to a wide range of water sports as well as a comprehensive Children’s Club.
Son Vida, Son Mutaner, and Son Quint golf courses are just 15 minutes away by car from The St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort and, therefore, the Mandarin Oriental too.

Four Seasons Mallorca is located in the center of a national park, with grounds that reach the sea. Unlike the other clifftop hotels in the area, the Four Seasons is a beachfront resort located up a slight incline from the water level. There are no cliffs that stand between the resort and the beach, only cliffs that tower behind the resort as part of the national park.
The Four Seasons has a strip of beach with two layers of serviced and delightful loungers with straw parasols, and you can swim straight off the beach in the crystal clear warm waters of the bay.
