Review: Concorde Room Terminal 5

Reviews

The Concorde Room in Terminal 5 offers the epitome of elegance and luxury. It is open to the airlines First Class customers who can enjoy a gourmet restaurant and a wide selection of signature cocktails. British Airways has invested more than £60 million in creating the worlds largest airline complex.

British Airways has five Club Lounges in London Heathrow Terminal 5 including the prestigious Concorde Room in Terminal 5. The most accessible lounges are the Galleries Club South and Galleries Club North lounges, open to First or Club class passengers (including Club Europe) and Gold or Silver members of BA’s Executive Club.

The next step up is the Galleries First lounge, for First class passengers and Gold Executive Club members.

The Concorde room epitomizes elegance and is the pinnacle of Club Lounges at Heathrow Terminal 5. There is also a Concorde Room in New York’s JFK. All Concorde Rooms are restricted to passengers holding a First Class flight ticket or with a Concorde Room card, given out for earning 5,000 tier points in a year.

Location

The Concorde Room is located opposite the Galleries First Lounge in Terminal 5, and below the larger Galleries South Lounge. All three lounges can be accessed using the same escalators, and each has a different manned reception desk, where staff will check your ticket allows you access before letting you in.

Style & Character

The Concorde Room provides a tranquil, inviting atmosphere, furnished with luxurious Italian furniture, elegant chandeliers, and curated artwork that lend it a distinctive and sophisticated ambiance.

Inspired by top-tier boutique hotels, the lounge certainly lives up to its reputation, offering a much calmer space compared to the bustling Galleries Club Lounge. However, natural daylight is limited—only partially filtered in from the spacious terrace, which overlooks the airport. The lavish, dark décor, while stylish, tends to accentuate the dim lighting.

A standout feature of the lounge is the private cabanas, which can be reserved in advance. These exclusive spaces resemble mini hotel rooms, complete with a comfortable day bed and an en-suite bathroom, providing a level of privacy unique to this lounge experience.

Food & Drink

The food quality here is on par with what’s served in Galleries First, though notably a step up from the Galleries buffet. Breakfast is offered until 11:00 am and, while not gourmet, includes a satisfying variety of hot options: eggs prepared to your liking, full English breakfast, boiled egg with soldiers, kipper with poached egg, smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, eggs royale, omelets, plus an array of pastries, cereals, fruit, and juices.

This breakfast selection is more refined than what’s available in the main Galleries lounge, where certain items—such as kippers—aren’t offered. After 12:00 pm, the lounge transitions to an afternoon and evening menu featuring a Soup of the Day and a rotating selection that might include dishes like duck salad, sea bass, and ribeye steak, alongside permanent favorites like the BA Burger and Club Sandwich. For dessert, choices such as treacle tart and a variety of cheeses are available.

Spa

If you are holding a First Class reservation, you can now book 15-minute complimentary Elemis Spa treatments in advance, which means that Club World passengers in Galleries First have even less chance of snagging one of these treatments.

So is it worth the expense of a First Class ticket? In a word, No. The Galleries First is almost as good, and you can access this with an international Business Class ticket (plus the food appears to be very similar).

But if you are fortunate enough to gain access to The Concorde lounge or can expense your First Class ticket, it is undoubtedly a delightful lounge to spend a few hours in, and it does edge above the Galleries First Lounge, but only slightly.
