Book A Hotel

The Grand Hyatt Tokyo is a huge, 5-star Hyatt hotel located within the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, a 54-floor building, which also contains a high-end shopping mall, restaurants, a cinema, an art museum, and an observatory.

Location

The Grand Hyatt can be found in the heart of Tokyo’s upscale Roppongi Hills district. Nearby attractions such as Tokyo Tower, the Meiji Jingu Shrine, and the bustling Ginza district are easily reachable, and its proximity to Roppongi Station ensures smooth connectivity to other major areas like Shibuya and Shinjuku.

By comparison, the Park Hyatt Tokyo and the Hyatt Regency Tokyo are located in the hectic heart of the city. The part of Tokyo you see in the movies, with the big zebra crossings with thousands of people on them and the surreal neon-lit shops open through the night.

The Roppongi Hills district is more sedate by comparison. It is a clean area and has plenty of restaurants and bars nearby if you’re looking for nightlife. Convenient transport links, including the nearby station and but stop, make this Grand Hyatt a good base. The hotel is also conveniently situated for international travelers at just 40 minutes from Haneda Airport and 90 minutes from Narita International Airport.

Style & Character

Grand Hyatt Tokyo has an impressively large foyer with a marble floor. It’s packed with restaurants, which each have their own identity, and the rooms feel more like a Park Hyatt with their huge windows, and massive bathrooms, many with slider doors connecting the main guest room to the bathroom.

Service & Facilities

The Nagomi Spa and Fitness Center is a standout feature of this hotel, offering state-of-the-art Technogym equipment, a huge red granite swimming pool, and luxurious treatment rooms, including a couples’ suite with a Japanese granite bath.

The locker rooms contain Japanese massage chairs, which guests can enjoy and are a novelty. Members and suite guests can also access the spa’s exclusive wet areas, relaxation zones, and saunas.

The sauna facilities are separated by gender and are nude, which can be a shock for us Westerners. There’s a close-to-scorching hot plunge pool and a cold plunge pool that you can dip into as long as you can bear, along with a steam room, and dry sauna.

There is also an excellent Grand Hyatt club lounge with oatmeal decor and a similar look to the guest rooms. This is one of the best club lounges in Tokyo and offers free drinks and snacks throughout the day, an extensive breakfast, and a light evening meal with wine, sparkling wine, and cocktails, and all of these can be enjoyed inside or on the private terrace that boasts stunning city views.

The breakfast in this club lounge is served from seven to half past ten and is notable for its generous food spread and tasty Japanese curry. All the usuals are provided with plenty of juices, cut fruit including kiwi and pineapple, berries including blueberries and strawberries, cereals, cheeses, including a tray of brie, cold cuts, pastries, and yogurt. Hot offerings include eggs, quiche, fried potatoes, sausages, and Japanese breakfast items like rice, miso soup, and fish.

In the evening, the sun streams into this lounge, which gives it a wonderful warm light and atmosphere. There is plenty to eat in the evening, including cheeses and fresh bread with salad, along with fried nibbles and a hot Japanese dish with crab. The lounge closes at nine o’clock each night.

The Grand Club Concierge team can make restaurant reservations for you and help you with any issues, which is useful if you don’t speak Japanese, and there are meeting rooms if you are staying at the hotel for business.

Rooms

The hotel’s 387 rooms, including 28 suites, have high ceilings, mahogany-finished furnishings, and earth-tone palettes. The large windows in the rooms offer loads of natural light and there is a seat and footstool by the window so that you can relax and look down on the world below.

The window is actually angled outwards like a bay window so that when you sit on your seat by the window you have a view to the side of you and behind you. It almost feels like you are out on a balcony.

The rooms are carpeted, generously proportioned, and have all the usual facilities. The bathroom is noteworthy in its size, and many also have a sliding window screen that connects the main room to the bathroom next to the bath. This means you can open the slider up and bathe while watching the tv or enjoying the sky views. Equally, you can slide the screen across for privacy.

One standout feature of the bathrooms, in addition to their luxurious deep-soaking tubs and rain showers, is the generous counter space around the sink—perfect for laying out your toiletries. This practical design, combined with the elegant creamy limestone tiles that cover the entire bathroom, creates a serene and inviting space you’ll actually enjoy spending time in. Amenities by Balmain and Grown Alchemist add a touch of indulgence.

Food & Drink

There are at least eight restaurants at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo and many more restaurants and cafés throughout the Roppongi Hills mall, attached to the hotel.

For Italian cuisine, Fiorentina serves authentic dishes crafted from seasonal ingredients, while its adjoining pastry boutique offers award-winning cakes and confections. We particularly like this restaurant because it has a lovely outdoor patio where you can enjoy food alfresco, which is wonderful in the summer.

The French Kitchen delivers classic bistro fare in a chic setting, complete with an open kitchen and an expansive terrace. Shunbou and Roku Roku specialize in Japanese delicacies, offering everything from kaiseki meals to Edo-mae sushi.

Meat lovers will appreciate The Oak Door, a premium steakhouse known for its curated wine selection and seasonal produce. Meanwhile, Chinaroom impresses with its elegant Cantonese dishes and intimate private dining spaces.

For those seeking a lively nightlife experience, Maduro Bar and Jazz Lounge offers live entertainment, premium cigars, and a curated selection of spirits in an opulent setting. Each venue at Grand Hyatt Tokyo reflects a commitment to quality and originality, making dining an integral part of the guest experience.

Conclusion

Grand Hyatt Tokyo is one of the best Grand Hyatt hotels in the world. It’s so good that it feels more like a Park Hyatt, with so many facilities and brilliant rooms. The Grand Club lounge is excellent with great food and a sunny aspect in the evening. The hotel’s central location in Roppongi makes it an ideal choice for those exploring Tokyo’s rich cultural and entertainment scene.
