Book A Hotel

We have already investigated the best Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in the world, and now we look exclusively at the best Four Seasons hotels and resorts in North America which includes USA and Canada as well as Mexico. Our opinions and expert reviews are based on our own experiences at these wonderful hotels.

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is one of the world’s leading luxury hotel brands, with over 100 properties in more than 40 countries. In my opinion, the best Four Seasons hotel in the world is the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, a Four Seasons hotel. We return every year and visited just a few weeks ago to review their superb Veranda restaurant.

Wherever you are in the world, Four Seasons hotels are consistently one of the best hotels in that city or resort. Because they don’t have a Four Seasons loyalty program, you will never be able to book a free stay by racking up and redeeming points, or by collecting points on your credit card and spending them on a Four Seasons hotel stay. It can’t be done. But you can get discounts at Four Seasons hotels and benefit from special rewards at Four Seasons hotels for no extra cost by booking your next stay via our luxury travel concierge.

We have written a detailed article on how to get an upgrade & free breakfast at any Four Seasons hotel. Simply book through our Luxury Travel Concierge to get brilliant benefits at the same price as the hotel website. If you want to get the best possible rates, you should also travel out of the main season (avoid Christmas and school holidays). You can then often take advantage of their discounted fourth or fifth-night free offers, extra resort credits, and complimentary golf across all four resorts.

I am unashamedly picking all the Four Seasons hotels on the Hawaiian Islands as the very best Four Seasons hotels in the US. Hawaii offers one of the world’s most westernized and sanitized tropical resort locations. Staying on these islands is comparatively free from worry. Unlike other tropical destinations around the world where diseases and mosquitos are rife, Hawaii avoids almost all of these problems, making it the perfect sunshine destination whenever you want to visit.

1. Best Four Seasons In North America: Four Seasons Lanai

Four Seasons Lanai Hawaii is probably my favorite Four Seasons in North America. It offers a true escape on a billionaire’s private island, Larry Ellison’s, to be exact. This Four Seasons on Lanai features in our best Four Seasons hotels in Hawaii. You will not find more beautiful or more remote, empty beaches anywhere in the world than the Four Seasons Lanai.

Overlooking beautiful Hulopo’e Bay, Lana’i by Four Seasons offers an innovative vision of a Hawaiian resort, a perfect base to explore your own 90,000 acre island. Experience modern luxury at its most sophisticated, discover a remarkable variety of dining and drinks venues, and explore an astonishing range of landscapes with activities to match.

Upon arrival, you’ll find elegant yet innovative guestrooms, a variety of restaurants, including NOBU LANAI, a spa and wellness program, high-end retail stores, and a gorgeously landscaped pool oasis. Activities range from horseback riding, off-roading tours, sporting clays, and archery to snorkel and sailing adventures, as well as tennis, championship golf, and more.

Don’t expect a great deal of nightlife here, but for quiet romantic nights, there’s a beautiful alfresco bar on a large Lanai with sweeping views, connected to the Nobu restaurant, which serves a light menu and drinks through to 10:30 pm. After this, you can always wander barefoot down to the beach, where you will almost undoubtedly be alone, and you can enjoy a paddle under a Milky Way of stars.

We have reviewed the best Four Seasons hotels in Hawaii, but if you are looking for true escapism on the Hawaiian Islands, look no further than the Four Seasons Lanai. Overlooking Hulopoe Bay, this relaxing retreat offers the emptiest hotel beach on the Hawaiian islands. Four Seasons Lanai is the most remote Four Seasons hotel on the Hawaiian Islands. I reviewed the best way to get deals and special offers at Four Seasons Lanai.

2. Four Seasons Hualalai

In second place is Four Seasons Hualalai offers a tropical beach complete with magical sea turtles, a pool you can snorkel in which is full of fish, a stunning array of pools, bars, and restaurants and a world-class golf course. I particularly like the open-air bathrooms at this hotel (tip: you need to book a ground-floor room to experience these).

The hotel itself is perched on dramatic blackened lava from the Volcano. The entire low-rise complex is dotted with palm trees, and it has a long, private beach. The mix of warm sand, deep blue Pacific waters, lush green tropical foliage, and flowers means the setting can only be described as breathtaking.

The design of this low-rise hotel means that it never feels full, even though this glorious hotel often enjoys 100% occupancy (it’s that good!). The two-story buildings are spread out, so you never feel like the hotel is particularly busy.

The Golf Ocean View room is undoubtedly the best deal as you can enjoy all the benefits of the resort at the cheapest possible price. These are on the Golf Ocean-View Crescent on both the lower and upper levels. As you would expect, these rooms look out onto the golf course.

Four Seasons Hualalai Infinity Pool

My favorite thing at the resort is King’s Pond. Four Seasons brings the ocean into the resort for you with this pool: a quarry-like pond with a sandy bottom carved free form out of the black lava, and teeming with fish. It is right next to the beach and is one of the most unique resort features I have seen. It’s filled with seawater and is home to thousands of fish, including a couple of spotted eagle rays.

There are five other swimming pools, some with sloping and sand bottoms, some with hot tubs/ You can look forward to complimentary frozen grapes poolside, which is a lovely touch.

The primordial beauty of Four Seasons Hualalai is hard to put into words. The eruptions of black lava rock protruding out of crashing waves, golden sands, and green lawns contrast in a way that almost seems unreal. Four Seasons Hualalai is located on Big Island, Hawaii, the one with the big and active Kilauea volcano, which means that the whole resort is built on the dramatic black rock and that you can take a trip to the live volcano if you like. It's worth bearing in mind that this island is pretty big, so the drive to see the volcano is lengthy if worthwhile.

3. Four Seasons Maui

In third place is Four Seasons Maui. I’m biased as I got married (Mauid) and honeymooned here! This hotel feels more vibrant but less exclusive than those mentioned above, but it also usually has a slightly cheaper room rate. This is where the first “White Lotus” series was filmed.

Nestled in Wailea, Hawaii’s most exclusive resort enclave, Four Seasons Maui offers a blend of luxury and island charm. While its U-shaped, low-rise architecture mirrors other grand Hawaiian resorts, the interior sets it apart with a refined, open-air design. Hallways lead to the open side of the building, where gentle ocean breezes and sweeping panoramic views create an atmosphere of tranquility and elegance.

The pools at Four Seasons Maui are nothing short of spectacular. Families can enjoy dedicated kid-friendly pools, while adults can unwind at the stunning infinity pool with a swim-up bar. We made the most of the beach and poolside loungers (spritzer in hand—yes, please!) and took advantage of the complimentary snorkeling gear for an unforgettable day in the water.

It sits in the center of the most exclusive resort on Maui, Wailea. Over and above the usual sitting by the pool and eating and drinking in the bars, you can walk miles along a beachside promenade stretching from one end of this stunning resort to the other. You can shop in a cute mall a short walk away and enjoy the facilities of the other beachfront resorts along this patch of marvelous beaches and coastline. You will also find the Andaz, the Fairmont, a Marriott, and Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, steps away.

We have reviewed the best Four Seasons hotels in Hawaii, which includes the stunning Four Seasons Maui in the most exclusive resort on Maui, Wailea. Four Seasons Maui is the most resort-based Four Seasons hotel on the Hawaiian Islands, situated in the exclusive resort area of Wailea. 4. Four Seasons Oahu At Ko Olina

This hotel is the most recent addition to Four Seasons’ Hawaiian portfolio and sits some distance from the main resort of Waikiki on Oahu. This resort is the most high-rise of the four Hawaiian Four Seasons hotels but still offers a beautiful resort with all the facilities you would expect from a five star Four Seasons resort.

Spanning 650 acres (263 hectares), this master-planned community is home to Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club, several private resort residential communities, and Hawai‘i’s only private deep-draft marina. Guests and residents enjoy the award-winning Ko Olina Golf Club, four pristine white-sand lagoons connected by 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) of scenic shoreline pathways, and a diverse array of ocean and outdoor activities. With some of the island’s best weather and a location just 17 miles (27 kilometers) from Honolulu International Airport, Ko Olina offers an unparalleled resort lifestyle.

What sets Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina apart from other Four Seasons resorts in Hawaii is its unique setting around a tranquil, man-made lagoon. With turquoise waters and a golden-sand beach nestled in a protected circular bay, the lagoon offers an exceptionally calm and shallow spot for swimming and paddling. Its gentle waters make this resort an ideal choice for families, especially those traveling with young children.

Guests can enjoy complimentary loungers, umbrellas, and beach equipment, making it easy to snorkel, swim, or try various water sports without any extra cost.

Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina features four pools, each catering to different guests. The Ohana Pool, a circular family-friendly option, sits near the beach, pool bar, and restaurants but is fairly simple in design. Nearby, a small children’s pool with a stepped entry and adjacent hot tubs provides a great space for little ones to splash around. The resort also offers a spa lap pool for those looking to unwind.

The highlight, however, is the stunning adults-only infinity pool, the most visually impressive of the four. Overlooking lush lawns dotted with palm trees and offering breathtaking ocean views, this serene retreat is the ultimate place to relax and soak in the beauty of Ko Olina.

Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina is a brilliant luxury hotel on Oahu and arguably your best choice on Oahu’s leeward coast. It joins four other Four Seasons hotels that make up the best Four Seasons in Hawaii. We love the magical Islands of Hawaii, but the resorts there are largely limited to "middle-of-the-road" chain hotels. Certainly, you will not find overwater villas with plunge pools.

5. Four Seasons Whistler

In at number five is the Four Seasons Whistler in Canada. If you want to ski at a Four Seasons, you will find this ski in ski out four Seasons hard to beat! Actually, I tell a slight lie, the Four Seasons Megeve is also pretty mindblowing and depending on which side of the pond you are based, this is another fabulous choice. Both hotels feature in our best for seasons for skiing.

I love this Whistler hotel because it is easy to get to, around a two-hour scenic drive from Vancouver airport. I used to fly out to Whistler from London every year because it is such an easy transfer (and also because the exchange rate used to be very good for me compared to the cost of skiing in the Alps.

The structure of this Four Seasons feels like a massive chalet with wooden beams and roaring fires in every corner, including wonderful gas fireplaces in most rooms! If you have the choice, request a room looking towards the mountain and the snow rather than the road leading up to the hotel. These rooms are so very quiet and the winter wonderland view is spectacular. The rooms facing the loading bay of this hotel are easily the worst. They are all equally beautiful inside, but the beeping of lorries backing into the hotel loading bay can be noisy first thing in the morning! Be warned!

My most special moment at this hotel was swimming in the superb and warm outdoor pool whilst snowflakes were falling out of the sky and onto my wet hair. A magical moment at a gorgeous hotel.

We have reviewed the best Four Seasons hotels in North America, which includes the stunning Four Seasons Whistler in the rocky mountains in Canada. The Four Seasons Whistler is also one of the best Four Seasons Ski Resorts in the world. I have stayed there many times since its opening in 2004. The fact that it is almost ski in, ski out (see details of their ski concierge below) and that it has a glorious year-round, fully heated 23-meter outdoor pool along with the views out to the stunning rocky mountain scenery means that it is a great choice for a vacation.

6. Four Seasons New York Downtown

This amazing Four Seasons hotel sits in the center of the big apple. Located in downtown Manhatten in New York, this luxurious hotel offers an excellent alternative to staying in Midtown Manhattan. It sits between Tribeca and the financial district, a stone’s throw from the Brooklyn Bridge, One World Trade Cente, and is surrounded by the hottest restaurants.

The restaurant CUT by Wolfgang Puck is a highlight and is Wolfgang’s first in Manhattan, serving Wagyu beef and inventive seafood dishes. I particularly love the large, stylish indoor lap pool, relaxing spa, and the Gotham suite with its massive private terrace.

7. Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort

Set in a 125-acre (50-hectare) coastal village in the heart of Old Naples, Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort offers an unmatched blend of luxury and heritage just moments from 5th Avenue South. Traveling there is effortless, with Naples Airport just 15 minutes away for private flights and Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers only 40 minutes away, providing direct commercial connections across the U.S. and Canada.

A treasured icon on Florida’s Gulf Coast, the original Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club was founded in 1946 by hospitality pioneer Henry B. Watkins. For three generations, “HB” and his family welcomed guests to the relaxed elegance of Old Naples, where gentle sea breezes and breathtaking sunsets graced a 1,000-foot (300-metre) stretch of pristine white sand.

Now reimagined as Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort, this walkable Gulf Coast community blends history with modern luxury. Anchored by Market Square, a lively hub of boutique shops, cafés, and recreation, the resort offers an elevated resort lifestyle while staying true to its storied past.

If you're looking for a Four Seasons beach resort in mainland America, you have limited picks. Currently open are Four Seasons At The Surf Club, in Surfside, Miami, Four Seasons Palm Beach and Four Seasons Fort Lauderdale. All these beach resorts are in Florida, and Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort, will offer a new beachside Four Seasons hotel option on American soil, also in Florida. This brand new Naples Beach Club, Four Seasons hotel, which is set to open later this year (2025), is a complete refurbishment of the legendary former Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club.

9. Four Seasons Napa Valley

Another relatively new Four Seasons, ideal for Californians and wine lovers, is Four Seasons Napa Valley. With one of Napa Valley’s most coveted locations, Four Seasons is nestled in the valley’s north, in the historic town of Calistoga. The hotel and residences are surrounded by hundreds of acres of vineyards, framed by picturesque forests and majestic mountains. It’s a natural hideaway for relaxation and indulgence.

8. Four Seasons Los Cabos At Costa Palmas

Four Seasons Los Cabos At Costa Palmas is just down the beach from the new Amanvari Los Cabos, in the most exclusive resort area in Los Cabos. The calm shores of the Sea of Cortez and this Four Seasons hotel are surprisingly easy to reach, less than an hour from the airport, and they have a huge advantage over many other luxury hotels around Los Cabos. Hotels that face the rough Pacific are disadvantaged as you are often confined to using the hotel pool rather than swimming in the sea. The Sea of Cortez offers calm waters and great snorkeling, everything you need from paradise!

10. Four Seasons The Surf Club Miami

This beachside property, Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club, is a luxurious oceanfront destination bringing a new era of glamour elevated with chic Italian dining and a world-class spa. Located by the northern Miami Beaches on Collins Avenue, the design and ambiance hark back to Miami’s classic Jazz Age glamour in the 1920s and ’30s.

Of course, this is not an exclusive list, many incredible Four Seasons hotels have not made it into my top ten. Four Seasons Anguilla is an elegant beachfront Four Seasons resort in the Caribbean. Not far away, Four Seasons Nevis offers secluded luxury away from the crowds. If you prefer cities, Four Seasons Baltimore is located on the historic waterfront, and Four Seasons One Dalton Street is an unbeatable choice right in the heart of Boston.

Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club, Surfside, Florida, opened in 2016 and joins three other Florida-based Four Seasons Resorts, Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach, Four Seasons Hotel Miami, and the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort. Four Seasons Surf Club is located on the Northern end of Miami Beach, facing the Atlantic and in a calm, serene patch of this beach. You will need to take a taxi to get to South Beach from this Four Seasons. The legendary Surf Club was founded in 1930 by Harvey Firestone as a private membership club.

In Florida, Four Seasons Fort Lauderdale offers the ultimate hotel to spend a night before or after a cruise, and the Four Seasons Orlando is a must-do with kids. It has waterslides and a shuttle to the Walt Disney World Resort.

Back in California, Four Seasons Los Angeles is one of the best hotels in the area, with panoramic views of Beverly Hills and the iconic downtown skyline. Back up in Canada, Four Seasons Montreal is a cultural and gastronomic mecca in this vibrant city.
