Hilton London Heathrow Airport Or Sofitel Terminal 5 Which Is Best
Hilton London Heathrow Airport Or Sofitel Terminal 5. Which Is Best?

Tips

If you are choosing the best airport hotel at London Heathrow, you may be choosing between the Hilton London Heathrow Airport Vs. Sofitel Terminal 5. We outline the best hotel below. The Sofitel Heathrow Terminal 5 wins every time for location. You need to leave the main terminal and take the lift to the main car parks and pod parking. The entrance of this hotel is directly in front of this lift when you take it to the right floor. This means you can roll out of the hotel at the last possible moment before your flight’s check in closes.

4. Sofitel London St James, London

The Sofitel London St James is a grand hotel housed in a stunning historic building that once served as a bank. The hotel retains many original features, from the soaring ornate foyer ceilings to the marble gracing the interior. Unique relics of the bank’s past, including old coins, notes, weighing scales, and other vintage apparatus, are displayed in glass cases near the check-in desk, offering guests a glimpse into its storied history.

The hotel enjoys a prime location in the heart of London. A short walk north brings you to the iconic Piccadilly Circus and the fashionable Regent Street, home to an Apple store and a variety of designer and high street shops. Head south, and you’re steps away from St James’s Park, The Mall, and Buckingham Palace, perfect for witnessing the pageantry of soldiers on horseback. Nearby attractions include Trafalgar Square, Charing Cross station, the National Gallery, and Theatreland, with Her Majesty’s Theatre just behind the hotel, making this an ideal spot for sightseeing and cultural experiences.

This grand building has been beautifully renovated, blending the history of its traditional architecture with chic, modern interiors, creating a lively and stylish atmosphere. The bar’s popularity was clear during our stay, as it was consistently buzzing with both locals and hotel guests, making it a vibrant social hub.

The decor exudes a sense of humor and creativity, like the original painting affixed to the ceiling in the bar, inviting patrons to sit back and look up. In the foyer, during our visit, there was a dynamic art display featuring the works of renowned French contemporary artist Richard Orlinski, whose vibrant figurines added a playful energy to the space. The rooms are spacious by London standards, with a classic yet elegant design, and the immaculate black-and-white bathrooms, adorned with black marble surfaces, complete the luxurious feel.

We have stayed in many Sofitel hotels worldwide, including the Sofitel at London Heathrow, but the Sofitel London St James is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of luxury. This is a very special hotel in the heart of London. Book here, and you will be delighted with your choice!

The Sofitel London St James is a grand hotel set in a beautiful old building that used to be a bank. Remnants of the old bank still remain, from the ornate high ceilings in the foyer to the swathes of marble throughout the building. The hotel has even kept remnants of the old bank; coins, notes, weighing scales, and other apparatus that were used in the bank all those years ago are displayed in glass cases next to the check-in desk. The Sofitel London St James has a great location.

5. Sofitel London Heathrow

The Sofitel London Heathrow connects directly to Terminal 5 via a covered walkway and holds the distinction of being the only 5-star accommodation at Heathrow Airport. It features multiple bars alongside dining options such as La Belle Epoque, which boasts 2 AA Rosettes and is the airport’s sole fine-dining restaurant. There is also a 24-hour fitness studio, with free access for hotel residents and a spa.

The entrance is a bustling mass of tranellers surrounded by marble and glass and adorned with orchids and fountains. The hotel’s rooms are spread across six wings, connected by open-air walkways under towering glass atriums.

Rooms at the hotel either face outward toward the airport or inward toward various hotel areas—some overlook the restaurants or marble foyers, while others, like ours (room 6108), face the roadway leading to the airport. Since none of the rooms have direct runway views, there’s little distinction between inward- and outward-facing options.

Our room, while typical for an airport hotel, stood out with its spacious layout, upgraded finishes, and amenities. The quadruple glazing ensured absolute quiet (double glazing, a gap, and then more double glazing), and the blackout curtains, along with the large, comfortable bed, made for an excellent night’s sleep. The sleek black marble bathroom featured a walk-in shower, a bath with a built-in TV, and luxurious ESPA toiletries.

La Belle Epoque is arguably the finest dining experience at London Heathrow. The food is exceptional, and the staff are not only attentive but clearly take great pride in the outstanding dishes they serve. If you’re staying overnight at Heathrow, dining at La Belle Epoque is an absolute must. In fact, it’s worth making a special trip to the airport just to eat here—you won’t be disappointed.

What made our stay even more memorable was the access to Club Millésime Lounge, included with our room. Guests staying in a luxury room or suite at the Sofitel automatically receive this perk. While the lounge is cozy, seating about 40 people, it offers a relaxed space with internet access and a selection of food and drinks to enjoy throughout the day.
