The Sofitel London Heathrow connects directly to Terminal 5 via a covered walkway and holds the distinction of being the only 5-star accommodation at Heathrow Airport. It features multiple bars alongside dining options such as La Belle Epoque, which boasts 2 AA Rosettes and is the airport’s sole fine-dining restaurant. Rooms at the hotel either face outward toward the airport or inward toward various hotel areas—some overlook the restaurants or marble foyers, while others, like ours (room 6108), face the roadway leading to the airport. Since none of the rooms have direct runway views, there’s little distinction between inward- and outward-facing options.

Our room, while typical for an airport hotel, stood out with its spacious layout, upgraded finishes, and amenities. The quadruple glazing ensured absolute quiet (double glazing, a gap, and then more double glazing), and the blackout curtains, along with the large, comfortable bed, made for an excellent night’s sleep. The sleek black marble bathroom featured a walk-in shower, a bath with a built-in TV, and luxurious ESPA toiletries.

La Belle Epoque is arguably the finest dining experience at London Heathrow. The food is exceptional, and the staff are not only attentive but clearly take great pride in the outstanding dishes they serve. If you’re staying overnight at Heathrow, dining at La Belle Epoque is an absolute must. In fact, it’s worth making a special trip to the airport just to eat here—you won’t be disappointed.
